Is there really a difference between a healthy diet and a balanced one? While choosing one's not really a big deal, a healthy diet simply means eating anything but newly-picked, organic food everyday.

When we say a balanced diet, this means taking in the right amount of nutrients from all the basic food groups to provide your body the needed daily nutrition.

There is actually one argument when it comes to eating a balanced diet. Since it contains several kinds of food, there is a great tendency to divulge yourself to the ones you like instead of equally distributing your consumption to accommodate other nutrients. This is possible during special circumstances.

Although still considered balanced, it may no longer pass the standards of being healthy. Speaking of standards, being "balanced" does not necessarily mean that it's good for everyone.

For those with special health conditions such as hypertension or diabetes, these maybe an unhealthy diet for them because of some food types present in that kind of diet. In which case, maintaining a healthy diet for them means being "unbalanced" in some standards.

This condition is also applicable for obese individuals, especially those who are under the malignant obesity group. This is a very difficult situation for them because as much as they want to lose weight and suppress their appetite for food, they still need to eat but control their cravings for sugar and cholesterol-rich foods. Again, a healthy and a bit unbalance diet shall do the trick in this dire case.

Most people may have difficulty losing weight along the way if they haven't done enough research and understand the concept of a healthy and balanced diet. In the end, they may find the entire process confusing and exhausting. Moreover, the few pounds that they've lost over time may all be worthless in the long run. This is not really a very good motivation.

Here's a nice example. In an effort to maintain a balanced diet, people who are advised to take a low fat diet may conclude that totally scrapping fat intake will ruin everything so he will then decide to cut off the quantity of food instead. While it may effectively shed off extra pounds, the feeling may not be right and can even cause serious ailments because of deficiency to other nutrients.

If he had only done proper research and seek some professional advice, this would not happen. Dieting done without careful measures can indeed be very dangerous.

If you are in any way under the same circumstance, the first option is to find professional guidance. It is important that you fully understand the kinds of food applicable for your body condition.

A healthy and balanced diet can be achieved by eliminating food types which are the root cause of your pre-existing ailments. If you feel that what you know is insufficient, it doesn't hurt ask an expert's opinion.

While a healthy diet is good for everybody, maintaining a balanced one is a matter of individual situations. Don't be discouraged with a little confusion. Help would always be available for you.

We just have to be prudent in making decisions most especially if it concerns our health. What's important is that you have the right tools and attitude to make things work.

This is an interesting article. I think the key is balance. If you look hard enough, you can find a diet for anything - specific blood types to WWJE (What Would Jesus Eat). Now, sticking to that balance is what is hard to do.
